*In 2011, funds were appropriated by Public Law 111--118 as follows: (1) Under the State and Local Law Enforcement Assistance heading, $133.4 million for DNA--related and forensic programs and activities, $29 million for Paul Coverdell Forensic Science Improvement Grants, and $4.1 million for use in assisting units of local government to identify, select, develop, modernize and purchase new technologies for use by law enforcement. (2) Under the Violence Against Women heading, $3 million for research and evaluation of violence against women and related issues, and $0.8 million for analysis and research on violence against American Indian women.
**In 2011, reimbursements from other federal entities included the following: (1) $1.5 million to be transferred to the National Institute for Standards and Technology (NIST) for related research, testing and evaluation programs from the appropriation for the Bulletproof Vest Partnership (BVP) program administered by BJA. (2) $2.5 million from BJA for evaluation of the Honest Opportunity for Probation with Enforcement Demonstration Project (Project HOPE). (3) $3.6 million for various projects funded by other federal entities, including other OJP components.
