Combating Teen Dating Violence
February 2010Approximately 10 percent of adolescents nationwide report being the victim of physical violence at the hands of a romantic partner.
February is Teen Dating Violence Awareness and Prevention Month, and NIJ and the Government Innovators Network hosted an expert chat to highlight prevention and intervention research on teen dating violence.
Topics of discussion include:
- School-based teen dating violence preventive interventions with at-risk youth.
- The results of health-clinic interventions in reducing teen dating violence, birth control sabotage and sexual coercion.
- Links between pregnancy and interpersonal violence; ways of improving the lives of pregnant and parenting teens.
- Exploring ways to prevent teen dating violence and improve the lives of those impacted by teen dating violence.
