Attorney General Eric Holder has said the indigent defense system in the United States is in "crisis."

To address the issue and help repair a damaged justice system, the President and the Attorney General established the Access to Justice Initiative and appointed renowned Harvard Law Professor Laurence Tribe to head it.

Throughout her more than 30 years as an award-winning news journalist, Paula Zahn has covered many topics related to crime and justice.

As part of this year’s commemoration of the 15th Anniversary of the Violence Against Women Act, Zahn shared a reporter’s perspective on covering domestic and sexual violence cases and how the media can continue to shed light on critical criminal justice issues.
